Many minor injuries can be dealt with here at the surgery by our Practice Nurses or doctors, this may include sprains, minor cuts and grazes etc.
However please telephone us if you think we can help - fractures or more serious injuries may be redirected to either the Minor Injuries departments at Falmouth or Redruth or the main casualty unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital Treliske.
We have a modern, well-equipped treatment room and the doctors undertake a variety of minor operations at the surgery. Appointments are only by referral from your doctor.
Liquid Nitrogen Clinics, for the freezing of warts etc, are usually held on the last Wednesday of the month. Appointments by referral only and a waiting list is in operation at reception.
All minor operations will require the patient to sign a Consent to Treatment Form, prior to the GP commencing.
Outlook Southwest see patients who may be having difficulties with stress, depression, anxiety and/or other problems and who have been referred to them by the GP.
They provide different approaches for different types of problems. Some people are offered information, advice and practical suggestions for ways of helping themselves while others are offered the choice of seeing a psychological therapist for a number of appointments.
The available options and your own choices will be discussed with you in the first appointment. Generally first appointments last from between 30 to 45 minutes.
The therapists give your GP a brief summary of their work with you – you are welcome to see this. If there is anything you would prefer your therapist not to tell your GP, let them know. However, therapists have a duty of care. This means that if they have serious concerns about any risk to yourself or others they will need to tell your GP.
Cancelling Appointments and wasted appointments lead to longer waiting times. Please let the surgery know as soon as possible if you have to cancel. Patients who miss or cancel at short notice more than one appointment will generally be discharged by Outlook Southwest.

If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to inform us of your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required. There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial enquiry as early as possible - at least 10weeks before you travel - as an appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. You may also require tablets to protect you against Malaria.
These vaccines and tablets have to be ordered as they are not a stock item and some will require full payment in advance. Some vaccines require a second or third dose so please leave plenty of time to contact us. Your final appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
To help us offer the appropriate advice, please fill out the online form before coming to see the nurse.
There are some services that fall outside the NHS for which we charge a professional fee. We accept cash, cheques (supported by a bank guarantee card) and debit or credit cards.
